Since the last Belbin workshop took place at Mounsey, the team has grown substantially in size and the business has developed in additional service areas. New individual Belbin reports were generated which give a breakdown of strengths, suggestions of improvement and how they perform within a team. It was pivotal that every member of the team could digest their own report and understand what this meant in their day-to-day.
So, working alongside our resident Belbin expert, Hazel Cooke, we designed a workshop to help the Mounsey team recognise their individual and colleagues’ skills, as well as how to use this information to work more efficiently together.
The workshop was split into three parts, ranging from team to group tasks, as well as learning what Belbin is all about. Taking positions in their teams aptly named Whisky Mac, Tequila Slammer and Gin Rummy, we lured out the competitiveness within the team using a variety of insightful tasks and fun challenges.
The workshop was particularly beneficial for Richard, Director of Mounsey Chartered Surveyors, and the senior members of the team, giving them a chance to understand how others work and how to get the best out of them. Now that the whole team has the knowledge to implement Belbin into their daily working lives, they can dig in even deeper with a follow up session or workshop.
It was an energetic day full of learning and collaboration with everyone at Mounsey. It sparked positive conversations with the team about how they can bring their learnings into their daily work and encourage each other to play on their strengths. The team really stepped up to the plate, and it did them good to take time out for the workshop and focus on themselves as well as their colleagues.
