Located in North Wales, Bangor University offers a unique student experience with a campus that boasts incredible facilities. The university recruitment team aim to attract and encourage potential students across the globe through a comprehensive campaign timeline.
Crafting targeted assets
During the latest campaign, we worked with the in-house team to adapt the brand assets for the campaign ads. As always, we ensure that both the messaging and visuals are tailored to each platform including Meta, TikTok and Snapchat, as well as the target audience.
We know that video content has a high engagement rate, so we pack as much creativity into these as we can. A strong focus is put on how we can use footage and motion graphics to draw the audience in. We create dynamic, high energy video assets that build tension, so the audience can’t afford to look away.
Concepting the campaign
At the start of every campaign, we interrogate the brief internally. Whether it’s for Clearing, Summer Open Days or Early Engagement, we want to really make sure we understand the needs and requirements for the particular campaign.
To concept the ads, we break them down in a way that helps the client to see our direction, giving advice on accessibility practices within their brand colour palettes and font use.
We carefully consider the various audiences beyond the primary student focus, including parents/carers and influencers like teachers. We think about how each audience has different expectations, requirements and goals. Then we work out how to meet them, taking a ‘one size doesn’t fit all’ approach.
Back to brand guidelines
Every campaign follows the guidelines provided by the university. For the latest campaign, the key asset was the shield tilted at an angle. We took this and crafted 3 or 4 new ways of framing images, creating effects, styles and composition with that same shield.
It’s this way of working which gives maximum value to the team at Bangor. We never see restrictions in brand guidance, but rather see them as a jump off point. We always see the essence of the brand, the ‘why’ of the visuals and from there, we use that to inspire our approach.
Ongoing collaboration
Working closely with the team at Bangor, we’re an extension of their in-house creative team, adapting to their goals and working to data provided to deliver effective visuals. Our creative approach means we keep each campaign fresh, always pushing the boundaries of what is expected, while remaining in line with the university’s identity and student aspirations.
