Starbots Creative Completes 18-Mile Charity Walk to Support Shropshire Staffordshire Cheshire Blood Bikes

We laced up our walking boots this weekend for a great local cause, covering 18 miles along the Caldon Canal, from Froghall Wharf to Etruria.
The walk, which took place on Saturday, 9 November, raised £1,320 for Shropshire Staffordshire Cheshire Blood Bikes (SSCB), a vital volunteer-run service providing urgent blood and medical product transport free to NHS hospitals in the region.
The charity is close to our hearts, as Liz Salmon, mother of our company directors Kate and Emma, who previously managed the company’s accounts, volunteers with Blood Bikes in her spare time.

“We felt this was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate SSSCB’s ten-year anniversary while giving back to an organisation mum is so passionate about.
“The walk was definitely challenging, but we were receiving donations right up to the finish line, which really spurred us on.
“We’re so grateful to all of the clients, partners, family and friends who contributed and sponsored us. It’s such an incredible local service that SSCB provide.”
The funds raised will support SSCB’s essential work across Shropshire, Staffordshire, and Cheshire, where volunteers transport critical blood products, pathology samples, and donated breast milk, free of charge on motorcycles, between hospitals and pathology labs.
The service helps reduce taxi costs by as much as £300 per round trip. Operating entirely on donations, SSCB’s team of motorcyclists saves lives and eases the NHS’s financial burden with each delivery.

“We’re so grateful for the support of the team at Starbots Creative. The money raised will go a long way to help us keep our blood bikes on the road, contributing to essential items such as fuel, box carriers and bike maintenance.
“I was delighted to catch up with the team at the halfway point in Endon, along with blood bike members Liz and Mick. With nine miles under their belts they were still in very high spirits and excited to complete the challenge.”
