Starbots Creative celebrates 12th anniversary as it hits record revenue and employee numbers

After starting out in the spare room of a bungalow, a creative agency has celebrated its 12th anniversary from its two-storey office in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Starbots Creative began solely as a graphic design business in January 2010, with Managing Director, Kate Cooper, delivering graphic design services to a small base of clients.

The agency has now reached two major milestones as it celebrates 12 years of business.

August 2021 saw the close of its best financial year to date, with turnover growing by 35%.

And the agency now employs 16 staff after recent expansion to provide full-service marketing, including branding, design, digital and content.

In its second decade of business, Starbots has appointed specialists in branding, digital strategy, campaign management, website development, SEO, content strategy, copywriting, animation and illustration.

Managing Director, Kate Cooper, said: “I’m so proud and excited to hit these milestones as we celebrate our 12th anniversary. Investing in new skillsets within the business and seeing clients flourish, as we too experience significant growth, is fantastic.

“Looking back, I feel a huge sense of accomplishment in how much growth we’ve achieved, especially as we emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.”

One of the more recent arrivals to the Senior Team at Starbots is Head of Digital Marketing, Alex Scott, who joined the agency after 16 years working for the NHS, InterContinental Hotel Group, Toyota and the Al-Futtaim Automotive Group in the UK and Middle East.

He said: “Joining the agency and supporting its further growth in digital and content marketing services has been so rewarding. The targets we mapped out for these areas have happened at an accelerated pace over the last 18 months, with more of our existing client base benefiting from our digital expertise.

“We’ve also seen a number of new digital clients coming on board, mainly through referrals and recommendations, which just reaffirms that our services are adding genuine value to the businesses we work with.

“Digital never stands still, so we’re focused on adding more specialist skills to our growing team so we can continue to support our clients and tackle new challenges.”

The agency has a broad range of clients that span a range of sectors and industries, including education, charity, property, local and national government, insurance, software and transport.

Recent client wins include commercial property consultancy, BA Commercial, Lancashire-based Future U and Camden Council.

Kate added, “As we grow and push forward through our second decade, we’re in a position to be able to partner with clients who really align with our values; who are ambitious about growth, passionate about creating opportunities and who operate with integrity when it comes to the people and communities around them.

“Continually adding new and complimentary skillsets to make sure we’re at the forefront of developments in the creative industry is a key focus for us over the next five years. The digital world evolves at a rapid pace and we want to be in the best position to help our clients achieve the best results.”
