To mark its 15th anniversary, Starbots Creative has pledged to deliver 15 influential opportunities in 2025 to help young people start a career in the creative industry.
The creative marketing agency will be supporting young Staffordshire locals through a series of career-focused experiences, including work placements, community outreach, mentoring, local partnerships and workshops.
Young people aspiring to enter the creative industry, will be given the opportunity to co-create a bespoke programme of support from Starbots that aligns with their career goals.
The agency, which was founded by Managing Director Kate Cooper, occupies a two-storey building on West Street in Newcastle-under-Lyme, after first starting out in the spare room of Kate’s parents’ bungalow back in 2010.
Initially focused on graphic design and branding, the business has grown in both staff and skillsets, to offer a wide range of creative marketing expertise, including animation, content creation, copywriting, website development and advertising.
Kate Cooper, Managing Director at Starbots Creative said,
“2025 is a special year, not just because we’re celebrating our 15th anniversary, but also because it’s the centenary year of our local city of Stoke-on-Trent.
“It’s an exciting time to shine a light on the incredible young talent and growing creative future of our local area.
“I know first-hand what it’s like to be looking for that first break into a creative career. That’s why we’re committing to providing 15 meaningful opportunities for young creatives aspiring to gain a foothold in the industry.”
The agency’s clients span both the private and public sectors, including Stoke-on-Trent College, Bangor University, Trentham Estate, Synectics Solutions and Mounsey Chartered Surveyors.
Local graduate, Lewis Goldstraw, joined Starbots Creative as a junior designer a year after graduating with a degree in Product Design. He commented:
“Starting out in the creative industry can be daunting and there’s not one clear entry route to follow. When I joined Starbots I was keen to develop build-my graphic design skills and gain as much commercial experience as possible to help me work out which direction to go in.
“Since then I’ve gained so much knowledge from the team at Starbots, not just in delivering to commercial briefs, but also in exploring different creative avenues. This has led to me developing my skills in animation, an area I’m really passionate about. Now, specialising in animation, I get to animate on a daily basis - helping clients showcase products, communicate complex messages, create digital advertising or tell compelling brand stories.”
Kate added,
“Our links to the education sector go back a long way and we’ve always been passionate about sharing knowledge and training. A lot of our highs over the last 15 years have been where our work makes a positive difference to the lives of young people. So we want to focus on this as we celebrate 15 years in business.”
