How do you engage the community in active participation of sport?
Together Active
Visual Identity, Logo Design, Print
Together Active (previously Sport Across Staffordshire Stoke-on-Trent) is an independent charity and Active Partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. The organisation works to improve social inclusion, community cohesion and health outcomes through physical activity.
As Together Active branched off from the county council, it needed a visual identity as a newly formed organisation. In a busy market, at a time when other partnerships also funded by Sports England were taking a similar step, the identity had to be distinctive to establish the brand as an independent non-profit organisation.

We led Together Active through the brand development process. Following a brand workshop with key stakeholders, we created the new name, visual identity and usable brand guidelines. A bold, inviting colour palette was introduced to represent the great outdoors and encourage the audience into sports.
We then crafted the name and visuals for the activity finder platform, Active My Way, designed to bring together the huge range of activities available locally, searchable by time and location. By providing an accessible platform of recommended activities, it aimed to change the behaviours of health professionals’ patients.

Following the creation of the overarching brand identity, the Together Active team set up a pilot project to test a ‘Library of Things’ in Tamworth where people can borrow sports equipment free of charge to enable them to be more active. We concepted two initial logos for the newly named project, ‘Ready Set Borrow’.
The ‘Ready Set Borrow’ Visual A design draws direct inspiration from Together Active and Active My Way. It utilises the same typography, stacking the text dynamically to create a sense of energy and movement. The colour palette remains closely aligned with Together Active’s branding, while the rich purples evoke trust and reliability. The addition of vibrant hues symbolises excitement, activity, and immediate engagement, reinforcing the initiative’s goal of encouraging participation.

The ‘Ready Set Borrow Visual B’ design is inspired by the dynamic action of throwing a ball. A ball symbolises participation – whether playing individually or as part of a team. The three key stages of its movement align seamlessly with the rhythm of READY, SET, BORROW. The refreshed colour palette enhances the sense of energy and excitement while introducing a feeling of freshness and vibrancy.
Following the Together Active team’s decision to roll out logo A, we translated the new identity across print materials to raise awareness of the project.
